Cap 10K Race Results
LOG ENTRYDistance: 9.2 miles (6.2 mile race)
If you don't feel your best, but you've already paid for a race, just go run and have fun. You may not hit your goal, but you might just be able to squeak out a PR. And when you squeak out a PR, it always feel good.
Splits:
6:29, 6:46, 6:46, 6:36, 6:44, 6:37, 1:14 -- 41:19 (6:39 avg. pace)
Word is that the humidity level was 90%. But it's Texas and it's hot here and I can't say that was a factor. The bigger factor is that I don't run these types of races too often and, well, they're just at a faster pace. A pace that I'm not quite comfortable with.
There's quite an interesting group of people out there. For example, I spent the race trailing behind an 11-year-old kid. Let me point it out again, I spent the race trailing behind an 11-year-old kid.
At about the beginning of mile 6, I saw the camera man out snapping shots. At about that time I was running right next to the 11-year-old. Not wanting to be caught in a picture getting beat by someone 4'8', I got out of that shot and covered up my number for good measure. I'm happy to report I out-kicked the little guy on the last mile.
As a whole, I'm happy with the race. It was a PR by over a minute. However, if I'm going to race these distances and shorter I seriously need to work on leg-speed. Perhaps some 200's, 400's, 600's would be appropriate.

Good one. I didn't see you in the Gazelle results so I was worried. Ready to kick it next Saturday? Thonster
